Guess who’s back!

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know. It has been a while since I have posted a blog entry. I honestly don’t know why I haven’t done it in a while so I feel like this one might be a bit long so bare with me =).Also, wordpress won’t let me upload any pictures right now.

Ever since we found out we were having a girl in October 09, it seems like things have just flown by. First it was the excitement of knowing it was a girl. Then there was the beginning process of getting her room together with painting, ordering furniture, etc. After that there was getting clothes, essentials, etc. After that there was the 4d ultrasounds. Yes, plural. Peyton was being stubborn both times but we got a couple of good pictures. After that there was the wonderfully awesome baby shower that Rachel, Sherry, Gina, and Donna threw for Peyton. Then there was the also wonderfully awesome baby tea that Cedar Grove threw for us.

Now we are here. The home stretch. The grand finale. The fat lady is about to sing. The bottom of the ninth. The encore. The..well you get the drift. Jen is 36 week and2 days pregnant! It has all gone by so fast. I can’t believe that it is almost time for Peyton to get here. It’s almost time for us to welcome our wonderful, beautiful, daughter into the world. It’s almost time for us to hold our daughter and tell her how much we love her to her face for the very first time. It’s almost time to see her little feet and little hands that we have seen so many times stuck in her mouth from her sucking on them on the ultrasound. It’s almost time to see who’s nose, ears, mouth, eyebrows, etc that she inherited. It’s almost for us to get to do and see every wonderful thing we have been dreaming of ever since we found out that about our precious gift from God. God has blessed us so much and we are so thankful that he chose and sees us fit to be parents!

Jen has been feeling lots of pain and sleepless nights lately. A lot of back pain and just overall aching. I try to rub her back every night before we go to bed to try and help with whatever I can. She is such a trooper and is an amazing wife and mother to Peyton. She has recently gotten into coupons and the wonderful world of them recently which I am not complaining about. Another things that she has gotten into recently is THE OFFICE! Woohoo! I have been trying to sell it to her for a while and it took her a little bit but she really enjoys it now and looks forward to watching it. Another thing that I have sold her on is a show called Good Eats on the Food Network. It is a funny show and really informative about food and how to cook things. Also for some strange reason we like to watch The Vampire Diaries.

We had a good time last weekend with the Burks Clan rolling into town. It was great to see everyone and hang out. Jen cooked a massive pot of chili and it was very yummy to my tummy. My dad also brought over the toy chest that everyone went in on and got us for Peyton and we put it together. It goes perfectly with Peyton’s furniture. Jen put all of Peyton’s stuffed animals and things on top of it and it just looks really great. It was also great to see the Cole Train. He is such a happy baby. However, I do apologize to Chris for getting Cole dribble in his eye and on his face while lying on the floor watching Braxton play Wii. However, it was pretty funny. Anywho, Cole was going crazy in the exersaucer and seemed to have a good time. You can tell how great of a job Zac and Rachel have done raising Cole. Along with hanging out, Donna with the help of her assistant Sherry, took maternity pictures. It was great fun and we can’t wait to see the pictures! Thanks Donna!

Last night I put the last thing together that I could before Peyton gets here. I was really pumped about putting stuff together like the bassinet, nursery furniture, bouncer, etc. Alas, the jumper was put together last night and now I don’t have anything to put together. That’s ok though because pretty soon we will be holding Peyton and we get to put her in those things.

In closing, I want to say thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey and helped us with things like clothes, furniture, baby showers, books, and a lot of other things. Most of all, we thank you for the encouragement, support, and love . We look forward to seeing everyone again and introducing you all to Peyton Claire Burks!

The long awaited return…..(23 Weeks)

Jen at 23 weeks! Finally, after a few off weeks, the blog is back! I apologize for not posting a new blog entry. We have been pretty busy lately and also I have just been lazy with it.

Well Jen is officially 23 weeks today! It has been so exciting to see week after week how the baby is developing and all the cool new things that happen each day. It really has been unlike anything else that we could have imagined. We are so thankful for Peyton and love her dearly and can’t wait until we get to meet her in only 17 weeks! Peyton will be here before we know it! At 23 weeks, Peyton is more than 11 inches long and is just over a pound! She has been growing great and everything looked good at our 22 week appointment last week. She started measuring Jen’s belly at our last appointment but she didn’t tell us what the measurement was. Also our next appointment is December 2nd and then we go back the December 23rd which is 3 weeks from the Dec 2nd appointment and then we start going to our doctor every 2 weeks! To think that we only have 1 more 4 week appointment and then go back after that only 3 weeks last before our 2 week appointments start is so awesome and really makes us realize that Peyton will be here before we know it.

Speaking of, here is a little bit about Peyton this week:

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she’s more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby’s increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won’t faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

This week we started to sort out Peyton’s room. We got all the big things out of the room, except the furniture, and started to organize her room. We have been blessed with such family and friends that have given us clothes, swings, and lots of other things. (Peyton is going to be spoiled rotten). Jen put hung her clothes that needed to be hung and put all her other things in the armoire or dresser. Everything has it’s place and Jen has done a great job at organizing her clothes and such. We also are going to try and finalize the position of the armoire and dresser this week because Saturday I am going to be painting Peyton’s room. We are getting things going to try and get in gear for Peyton’s arrival.

One of the most amazing things is to feel and see Peyton move. She has really picked up her movement lately. Not only can we see her kick but we can actually see her move. It is the craziest thing to see her moving. The kicks are getting bigger and they are more like little thumps that you can see. Watching her actually move around and switch positions is different. It’s like looking at a waterbed as in it’s kind of like a wave when she moves. You can see Jen’s stomach move around and everything. We went to the movies this past weekend and watched her kick and move for about ten minutes before the movie started (no one else was in there at that time).

Well that’s all I got for now. I leave you with a couple of pictures of the furniture and bedding:

We are having a girl!

Yep! We found out yesterday that we are having a baby girl! Her name is Peyton Claire Burks. Everytime I type her name of just say her name I get so happy. We are so blessed to have a child and are so thankful that God has blessed us with the bundle of joy named Peyton! It was such a wonderful experience yesterday at the ultrasound. It was something that we will never forget and will cherish forever. Our appointment was at 10:40 and we ended up going back to the ultrasound room at about 11:40 because the office was running behind. We finally got back there and the technician asked us if we wanted to know the sex and we said heck yeah! She showed us the baby and pointed out all the limbs. Peyton was curled up in a ball and was moving her hands around pretty actively. About 2 minutes into the ultrasound, the technician said that she already knew what the baby was and asked if we wanted to know. She showed us the ‘girl’ parts and said congratulations you are having a girl! It was so awesome. Most importantly, she also said Peyton was healthy and that evertying looked great. We saw the 4 chambers of her heart, her spine, kidneys, legs, arms, eye sockets, nose, brain, etc. It was great to hear those words. The technician also said that Peyton is about 7 inches long and weighs about half a pound! Jen’s parents and my mom came to the visit. We saw everything we wanted to see and then I went and got our parents and they saw and were very excited.

We then left from our ultrasound and then went to see Dr. Barron. I asked her if Jen had gained some weight and she said yes so that was also good. She said for Jen to expect to gain about 10-15 pounds by the next appointment which is November 4th. She also said that we can call and schedule our birthing classes and such so we are going to do that. From there, we left our appointment and went to register at Babies R Us. We also got a few things for Peyton. We couldn’t resist!  We then went to church where our friends Chris and Rachel got us a cake that said It’s a girl! It also had Peyton Claire Burks due March 10, 2010 on there. It was really nice of them to get us a cake and they also got us a stuffed rabbit and a cute dress for Peyton. After I sang a song in our bible study class, I took the cake to Jen in her ladies class so that she could make the announcement to her friends and everyone was excited! Overall it was a fantastic day!

This weekend we are going to go visit Peyton’s Aunt, Uncle and cousin! We are going to visit Zac and Rachel and Cole and we are super excited! We can’t wait to see them again. It is going to be fun!

Other than that, I can’t think of anything else. Here are a few pictures from the ultrasound!Peyton Claire Burks!Peyton looking at us!Peyton Claire Burks_2

17 Weeks! (Pictures coming tonight I promise!)

Jen and 17 Weeks

Jen and 17 Weeks

Well here we are at 17 weeks! It is going by kinda fast. I say that and then watch it go by super slow. Anyways, this time next week we will be finding out whether Baby Boo is a Jackson or a Peyton! I can’t begin to explain the excitement that we have. I took the day off of work because we are also going to go register afterwards and I am also going to take Jen out for a nice lunch wherever she wants!.

Here’s what is happening in Boo’s life:

Your baby’s skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. Your baby weighs 5 ounces now (about as much as a turnip), and she’s around 5 inches long from head to bottom. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

It would awesome to see the baby move at our appointment next week since s/he can move his/her joints. Hopefully the baby will be in a position where we can tell the sex. Either way, we are both ecstatic!

In other news, we had a great weekend last weekend. We got to hang out at my Gina and Eddie’s house (my sister and her husband). We watched some football, ate some cheese dip, and had some chocolate cake which all of the food was very tasty! They also gave us some baby things which was so awesome and appreciated very very much. Thanks you guys!

Also, we have an addition to the family! We are the proud owners of a 2005 Honda Pilot! We love the car. It is very roomy, comfortable and we got a great deal. We ended up going with our original choice from Brannon Honda becuase our other deal fell through. There will be pictures of the car up soon. We are really happy and blessed to have been able to get the car.

This weekend we have a semi-busy weekend. We have the Moody homecoming game this Friday. I am not sure who they are playing but we have been asked to go to the game by several youth at our church so we are going to go support them. On a side note though, I believe our town of Odenville did defeat Moody earlier this season =). Then on Saturday, I am participating in the Gospel Fest in Fairfield, AL. I will be playing two songs. I am pretty excited. It got rained out earlier this year.

Sorry for the short blog this time. I am kinda having blogging-bloc. Anyways, pictures will be up tonight!

16 Weeks!

Hello everyone! Jen is 16 weeks pregnant (I promise pictures will be up very soon!). Our appointment went good and best of all we got to schedule our ultrasound that I like to call “The Big Reveal”. It is October 7th. We can’t wait! It is finally going to be here where we get to know if it is Baby Jackson or Baby Peyton.  Jen is also having the gastrosomethingorother diabetes test that morning. So she will have that test at about 8:10 in the morning and then around 11:00 or so is when we find out about the sex of Baby Boo. I took that day off because we are going to go register afterwards. Only 12 more days!

As for the appointment yesterday, like I said it went good. We listened to the heartbeat and got a little nervous at first because the nurse had a hard time getting a good sound. She said that the baby was turned away from us so that is why it wasn’t as loud. She finally did find a good position and we got to hear a good sound of Boo’s heartbeat. It was amazing as usual. Jen is still down in weight but our doctor said that everything is going fine and that we shouldn’t be worried. I tend to agree with her because although Jen may be losing weight, you can look at her belly and see that the baby is growing and getting the nutrients and such s/he needs. Our family has a history of 8 lbs or bigger boys being born. Jen seems to think it’s a boy and if so then he has a pretty good chance of being a big baby!

Also, Jen says that she thinks she has felt Boo kicking and moving around a few times. Where she feels it is right where Boo would be and she is pretty sure that she felt the baby! I know that I can’t see the baby move yet but that’s ok. I will be able to see the baby move in 12 days on the ultrasound! It is going to be so amazing to see our baby that God has so graciously blessed us with move around and stuff. Boo might not move around but that’s ok too. I will get to feel Boo soon anyways hopefully. It will just be nice to see how big Boo has grown from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. S/he looked like a teddy graham at 8 weeks so from a teddy graham to now is going to be pretty amazing. We can’t wait!

And now, another installment of what’s going on in Baby Boo’s world:

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren’t recognizable yet. He’s even started growing toenails. And there’s a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

I will be honest to say that I have never held an avocado before but  I will hold one soon so that I can know what it would feel like to hold Boo!

In other news, we had a great time with our friends Steven and Abbey and their kids last weekend. Their kids have gotten big since the last time we saw them and it was nice to hang out with them again. We came back last saturday and went straight to Brannon Honda to look at a Honda Pilot that we saw on their website. We are set on getting a Honda Pilot and had been looking for a while to try and find one and we finally found one there. It looked good and drove great. I had already been approved financially so all we had to do was find our car and we found it! However, on Monday we had one of Jen’s dad’s friends look at it and say that he could get us a WAY better deal on a Pilot with WAY less mileage (talking about only 40,000 miles or so). So on that note, we decided that we would get one from the guy that he knows. So, it is just a matter of time until we will be driving our new-to-us Honda Pilot! It is a great car and we are excited!

I guess that is all for now. Like I said, pictures will be up soon. Thanks for reading!

15 Weeks and a spoiler!

Hello everyone! Well today marks the 15th week of pregnancy. We finally have gotten rid of the flu bug and jen is feeling a lot better. I gotta tell you, it was not fun for Jen being sick. I felt so bad for her but I am glad that she is feeling better and over it.

And now for this week in the life of Baby Boo:

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She’s/he’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her/his nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her/his lungs begin to develop. Her/his legs are growing longer than her/his arms now, and she/he can move all of her/his joints and limbs. Although her/his eyelids are still fused shut, she/he can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she’s/he’s likely to move away from the beam. There’s not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she/he is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby’s a boy or a girl! (Don’t be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby’s sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby’s position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to “hide the goods.”)

Wow, about the size of an apple now! Last week it was a lemon. it’s amazing what all the body does during pregnancy. We can’t wait for our next appointment which is a week from today. It’s so awesome every time we get to hear our baby’s heartbeat. It’s like we are meeting our baby for the first time every time.

We are ecstatic about finding out if we are having a boy or a girl. Three weeks from today and should know if we are having baby Jackson or baby Peyton! Yes there you have it. The spoiler is our baby names. If we are having a boy, his name will be Jackson Lucas Burks and if we are having a girl her name will be Peyton Ann/Claire Burks. I put the slash in their because I forget which middle that Jen likes the best. Anyways, we love both of those names and will be excited either way.

I also have to admit that I am a bit of a worry wart. I know I need to stop because Jen is taking very good care of herself and I can see her belly forming into the circular baby shape. It was God’s time that he wanted us to have our baby and I know that He is taking care of Baby Boo also. Jen has this one shirt that she bought at Motherhood Maternity that gives you a good look at how much she is showing. We were sitting at Chik-Fil-A last night and I told her that I can’t wait to see her belly be able to touch the tabletop when she sits down from being pregnant.

In other news, we got a jump drive so hopefully I will be able to put new pictures on here pretty regularly. We didn’t take a 14 week picture of Jen last week because she was so sick. We also have busy weekends for the next…..forever! This weekend we are going up to visit our friends Steven and Abbey in Stevenson, AL. Next weekend, we are going to my sister Gina and her husband Eddie’s house to hang out with them. It will be great to see them again and spend some time with them by ourselves instead of with a big group. Not saying I don’t enjoy the big groups though. The next weekend, Jen has a shower in Huntsville and I have a gig to do a couple of songs for Organ Donoros Awareness. It’s a really neat event where Organ Donors and the recipients speak about their experiences and there are some praise and worship teams that will be there singing and such. I will be doing two songs with me and the ole acoustic geetar. Then hopefully soon we can go visit The Burks Family 1.0 which consists of Zachary, Rachel and Cole and hang out with them. Jen and I went to Ikea one weekend on a whim and were overwhelmed so I think we need some expert advice on how to shop and find things there.

I guess that is all for now. I will try and put a few new pictures up soon. Hopefully I can get one of Jen this week. If not then it will be next week for our 16th week!
