16 Weeks!

Hello everyone! Jen is 16 weeks pregnant (I promise pictures will be up very soon!). Our appointment went good and best of all we got to schedule our ultrasound that I like to call “The Big Reveal”. It is October 7th. We can’t wait! It is finally going to be here where we get to know if it is Baby Jackson or Baby Peyton.  Jen is also having the gastrosomethingorother diabetes test that morning. So she will have that test at about 8:10 in the morning and then around 11:00 or so is when we find out about the sex of Baby Boo. I took that day off because we are going to go register afterwards. Only 12 more days!

As for the appointment yesterday, like I said it went good. We listened to the heartbeat and got a little nervous at first because the nurse had a hard time getting a good sound. She said that the baby was turned away from us so that is why it wasn’t as loud. She finally did find a good position and we got to hear a good sound of Boo’s heartbeat. It was amazing as usual. Jen is still down in weight but our doctor said that everything is going fine and that we shouldn’t be worried. I tend to agree with her because although Jen may be losing weight, you can look at her belly and see that the baby is growing and getting the nutrients and such s/he needs. Our family has a history of 8 lbs or bigger boys being born. Jen seems to think it’s a boy and if so then he has a pretty good chance of being a big baby!

Also, Jen says that she thinks she has felt Boo kicking and moving around a few times. Where she feels it is right where Boo would be and she is pretty sure that she felt the baby! I know that I can’t see the baby move yet but that’s ok. I will be able to see the baby move in 12 days on the ultrasound! It is going to be so amazing to see our baby that God has so graciously blessed us with move around and stuff. Boo might not move around but that’s ok too. I will get to feel Boo soon anyways hopefully. It will just be nice to see how big Boo has grown from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. S/he looked like a teddy graham at 8 weeks so from a teddy graham to now is going to be pretty amazing. We can’t wait!

And now, another installment of what’s going on in Baby Boo’s world:

Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he’s about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren’t recognizable yet. He’s even started growing toenails. And there’s a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

I will be honest to say that I have never held an avocado before but  I will hold one soon so that I can know what it would feel like to hold Boo!

In other news, we had a great time with our friends Steven and Abbey and their kids last weekend. Their kids have gotten big since the last time we saw them and it was nice to hang out with them again. We came back last saturday and went straight to Brannon Honda to look at a Honda Pilot that we saw on their website. We are set on getting a Honda Pilot and had been looking for a while to try and find one and we finally found one there. It looked good and drove great. I had already been approved financially so all we had to do was find our car and we found it! However, on Monday we had one of Jen’s dad’s friends look at it and say that he could get us a WAY better deal on a Pilot with WAY less mileage (talking about only 40,000 miles or so). So on that note, we decided that we would get one from the guy that he knows. So, it is just a matter of time until we will be driving our new-to-us Honda Pilot! It is a great car and we are excited!

I guess that is all for now. Like I said, pictures will be up soon. Thanks for reading!

Gestational diabetes. They jack you up on a sugar drink and then test your blood. Jen probably lost weight because she was sick for the entire first trimester. She’ll start packing on the pounds now that her appetite is returning. I started feeling Cole around 15 weeks, and Zac saw and felt him move for the first time at 18 weeks. He looked so different at each one of our ultrasounds. He went from a little blob at 6 weeks and 7 weeks to a little tadpole at 9 weeks, and then at the 12 week ultrasound he looked like an actual baby, albeit with a very large head. The 20 week anatomy scan was amazing, especially when the tech told us that he was a boy. The 4D ultrasound was the best one of all, though. I loved being able to see his little face. AHHH, I MISS BEING PREGNANT!!!!!!

I’m still on Team Ditch The Mustang. It will be much safer to have the baby in the back of the Jetta because you can put him/her in the center instead of on the driver or passenger side. Sports cars just aren’t made for carseats, and you will need to be able to go back and forth between cars easily, trust me. The Pilot will be nice, and give you some extra room for long trips. I LOVE having our Tahoe now. Makes things much easier. What year is the one you are looking at?

We are excited about y’all coming to visit in a couple of weeks! Be sure to fill up your bank account, because we’re going shopping.

I am excited about the next doc appointment. It would be great if Jenn did not have to go through the test first. We are going to miss ya’ll tonight for the game. So far we are 2 and 2. We have watched 2 with you and 2 without. Now we can see if we are more lucky apart or together!

I know you guys were really excited about getting a car this week. I am glad you waited. Mad Dog will come through for you.
